Marine Farm Educational Programme

In our company we believe that education is a fundamental and a priority task if we want to conceive a change in attitude towards the deterioration processes facing the planet.

We also believe that there is the need to democratize marine research in science and technology in order to contribute to the literacy of the people on this issue.

Considering this, we focus our efforts on four educational programs:

  1. Internships and Professional Practices
  2. Guided Tours
  3. Consciousness at Sea
  4. Working with the Community

1. Foreign Internships and National Professional Practices.
We have partnership agreements with Universities from Latin America and Europe.
In the last years we have done internships with more than 15 inters from different countries like Brazil, Peru, Spain, France and Germany among others.
Nationally we maintain agreement with Liceo Polivalente de Tirua and several universities. Up to date more than 50 students have done their professional practices with us where every year there is an exchange of experience and culture that help to the integrity of the professional.

FORM OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND INTERNSHIPS

2. Guided Tours
A professional from our company will make a tour through all our facilities. In this tour the visitor will be able to know all the activities that we develop from investigations until organic farming activities, among others.
This activity last approximately 40 minutes where we recommend to use comfortable shoes and clothes according to the geography of the farm.

3. Awarness at Sea

-A public-private commitment with MARINE science and FUTURE-

Awarness at Sea is a program of public and private partnership created by Voz Ciudadana and the company Marine Farms S.A. This program aims to capture young talented researchers from public schools of the V region and allows this students to develop outreach projects in the science and technology system of the company.

4. Working with the Community
This program is designed for coastal communities where we developed our operations. We design, develop and implement projects that promote the knowledge and attitudes of respect and appreciation towards marine ecosystems they inhabit.

PROJECT: THE RESCUE OF THE COLLECTIVE MEMORY OF THE CAPTURE OF THE JUAN FERNANDEZ LOBSTER.
The project “HISTORY AND MEMORY OF THE CAPTURE OF THE JUAN FERNANDEZ LOBSTER” emerges as an initiative of the company Marine Farms S.A. for the appreciation of the sociocultural practices of the fishermen of the archipelago Juan Fernandez understanding the historical processes that have positioned the archipelago under a sustainable fishing profile. This is a global example that needs to be reveal in today global scene that demands this kind of practices for the balance of the ecosystems.
Thus, the project aimed to contribute to the rescue of the collective memory of the capture of the lobsters of the archipelago Juan Fernandez appreciating their memories as a source of valuable information that can show the historical processes of capturing lobster up until now.

PROJECT: COMMUNITY RECOVERY OF EL SAUCE ESTUARY AS A FOCUS OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT FOR LAGUNA VERDE.
This project emerges as an initiative of the company along with the Cultural Center of Laguna Verde presented to the DAP of the Australian Embassy in 2014.

PROJECT: GOOD ENVIRNMENTAL PRACTICES ON BOARD OF FISHING VESSESLS IN ROBINSON CRUSOE ISLAND.
This project emerges as an initiative of the company along with the trade union of handicraft fishermen of Juan Fernandez (STIPA, from its Spanish initials) presented to the Environmental Protection Fund (FPA, from its Spanish initials) in 2014. This project is currently under execution.
